DUI Encyclopedia

Welcome to the Gateway to the Internet's only DUI Encyclopedia

The world of DUI is one of much misinformation, in large part due to the prevalence of junk science and urban myths. (Indeed, exposing these falsehoods is the main reason I started True Believer.) There is a truth behind the headlines, behind the 'tough' legislation, behind the court decisions and behind the agendas of victim groups like MADD.

It soon became apparent to me that I couldn't do justice to these truths in the short space of a daily web log, and there was no source on the Internet that did this job at the time. I discovered that the web needed a reference work to explain the law and science of the real truth behind DUI, with citations to scientific journals and legal authorities to back it up. I set out to create a reference unparalleled in today's DUI literature. The goal is lofty, but it is not presumptuous. The definitions on these pages are not mine alone, but are the joint efforts of hundreds of scientists, lawyers, judges and law enforcement officers who have made this field their own. In particular, the members of the National College for DUI Defense deserve credit for unselfishly sharing their wit and wisdom every day.
